User Guide: Escaux Connect 0.9.13

The information contained in this document should be treated as confidential and should only be shared with Escaux customers. Under no circumstances and under no form should any part of this document be transferred to third parties.

Scope of this Document

The purpose of this document is to allow the end user to understand and use the Escaux Connect application. Escaux Connect is a platform independent mobile application capable of running on various mobile platforms.

Escaux Connect has been tested under:

  • iOS
  • Android

There are two versions of Escaux Connect:

  • X100 - This version contains only the minimal feature pack.
  • X300 - This version contains the telephony feature pack in addition to the minimal feature pack.

This user guide applies to both versions. Some features are only available in X300, the reader will be informed when some feature is only for a specific version.

Escaux Connect can be re-branded. In this document we show screenshots of Escaux Connect using the Belgacom Unify branding.

Requirements

  • Web link to Escaux Connect application.
  • Credentials that allow you to login to Escaux Connect:
    • Username
    • Password

Connecting to Escaux Connect (Login)

Open a browser on your mobile device and enter the web link of the application. When the application is loaded successfully, an authentication screen shows up.

When you reach this step you will need your Username and Password. Type them into their respective fields. Press the 'Login' button.

If login is not successful a message in red shows up indicating the reason.

Remembering credentials

Entering your Username and Password each time can be cumbersome, in order to avoid this hassle, you can check the "Remember me" box, this will save your login information. Next time you open Escaux Connect those fields will already be filled in for you.

Home menu

The home menu is the entry point of the application. From here you are able to access Escaux Connect functionality.

Whenever you select a menu, and want to go back to this screen you can press the home button on the top right corner of the screen.

Status

Allows you to change your intentional status. You reach this menu by pressing the Status icon on the home menu.

From this screen you can choose your new status.

Call

This feature is only available for version X300 of Escaux Connect.

Call by entering a number

Allows you to call someone by entering a number. You reach this menu by pressing the Call icon on the home menu.

To call someone, start by filling in the number in the input field.

Then press the 'Call' button.

The following screen will show up the first time you will make a call with Escaux Connect. It allows you to select your device. You can choose between:

  • Your primary phone defined in the PBX. Your primary phone will start to ring. When you answer, the call to the other party will be initiated.
  • Your secondary phone defined in the PBX. Your secondary phone will start to ring. When you answer, the call to the other party will be initiated.
  • Direct Call. Your mobile device will call directly the number dialed.

You can remember this option by checking the 'Remember preference' box. If you want to change this preference again you can do it in the Preferences available in the home menu.

Limitation: You cannot remember 'Direct Call' as your preference.

Call a contact

A contact can be found using your buddy list or by searching it in the unified directory.

Once you have a contact open you can just press on his fixed or mobile number, it will call the number your have selected. If you have not saved your preferred device the call window will show.

Unified Directory

This feature is only available for version X300 of Escaux Connect.

Contains a searchable list of contacts of your unified directory. At the top you have a search field, where you can search for contacts by typing in their names. The list will automatically update according to your keywords.

On the image above, we made a search using the keyword 'Amaury', Escaux Connect returned the list of contacts that match the keyword. We can also see the status of contacts that are in the internal directory.

To see more details about a contact press on its name.

When nothing is inserted in the search field, it will show your buddies.

Buddy List

This feature is only available for version X300 of Escaux Connect.

Contains a list of contacts you have selected. It is useful to save your most frequently used contacts in your buddy list in order quickly get a hold of them.

A buddy can be any contact in the unified directory.

Adding and removing a buddy

For each contact in Escaux Connect you will see that there is a star at the top right corner of the contact window.

If the star is filled the contact will be part of your buddy list, otherwise it will not.

To add or remove a buddy make sure the star is selected accordingly.

Browse your buddy list

To browse your buddy list, press on the buddy list icon in the home menu.

Buddies that are part of the internal directory will expose their status.

Preferences

Allows you to change your language and your preferred phone.

To select another language, just press on the icon corresponding to the language you want to display. The interface will automatically change to that language.

You can save your preferred phone, so that when you start a call, it will use your preferred phone without having to choose it when calling. This is only relevant for X300 version of Escaux Connect

To select your preferred phone, just press on the button corresponding to its name. To change it, just press on another phone.

If you would like to have a menu that allows you to select your phone each time you start a call, then just deselect the current option, by pressing on it.

Disconnecting from Escaux Connect (Logout)

To logout from Escaux Connect, you can press the logout button in the home menu.

This will redirect you to the login screen.
