Disk Space Inode (DPS2)
Description
This probe measures the available and used space on a specific file system by inodes usage(disk partition).
Release notes
Version 1.0.0 - General deployment
- Feature: Initial version (M8033)
- Dependency:
- SNMP Agent module v3.0.0 or higher
Resource configuration interface
Resource parameters
- Warning Level (in percentage): Inode usage percentage threshold from which warning are to be generated in the monitoring system (default value: 70%)
- Critical Level (in percentage): Inode usage percentage threshold from which critical alarm are to be generated in the monitoring system (default value: 90%)
This probe generates 5 graphs, one for each partition (root, main, tmp, standby, data) with the following performance metrics:
- Partition usage: the amount of inodes currently in use.
Alarms
This probe can report following alarm states:
- WARNING: the warning threshold for inodes usage is exceeded.
- CRITICAL: the critical threshold for either inodes usage is exceeded.
Possible causes
- There are too many files on the filesystem.
Possible consequences
A system that runs out of inodes on a filesystem can have following consequences:
- Complete system crash, (manual) reboot required.
- Data loss because we are not able to create new files on the filesystem.
