Module details

This module is required by the Communication Server module and is solely available as a timing source for mixing audio in the conferencing applications.

Module configuration parameters

  • Default tonezone: Choose the country where this implementation is used to generated tones accordingly.
  • Card 1: Choose the card type of the first card if any.
  • Card 2: Choose the card type of the second card if any.
  • Span types: The type of span for the interfaces, separated by spaces. This refers to the span coding and framing. For E1, use "ccs,hdb3" and optionally "ccs,hdb3,crc4". For T1 interfaces, use "esf,b8zs". For a BRI interface, use "ccs,ami". So for a 4PRI card with E1 interfaces, the value would be "ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3". For a 4BRI card the value would be "ccs,ami ccs,ami ccs,ami ccs,ami"
  • Span clocking: Specify the clocking type for each of the spans, separated by spaces. Set to 0 to provide clocking to the connecting equipment, or another number to set the priority for which port will be used to synchronize the clocking from. For a normal 4PRI card where all ports are connected to a telco, this should be set to "1 2 3 4". For a card where 3 ports are connected to a telco, and the 4th port is connected to a PBX where the clocking needs to be provided, it needs to be set to "1 2 3 0".
  • Span signaling: Define the signaling channels and signaling type on each of the spans. This is entered in a "type=channel" style with spaces in between spans. For a classic E1 PRI interface this would be "dchan=16". For a classic 4PRI interface, this is "dchan=16 dchan=47 dchan=78 dchan=109". For an SS7 ISUP link where there are signaling channels on the first channel of each E1 interface, this is "mtp2=1 mtp2=32 mtp2=63 mtp2=94". For a 4BRI interface this will be "hardhdlc=3 hardhdlc=6 hardhdlc=9 hardhdlc=12".
  • Span media: Define the media (voice) channels on each of the spans. You can specify these with ranges using the dash character. For gaps in ranges, separate them with comma's. Use spaces in between spans. E.g. a classic E1 4PRI interface would be "1-15,17-31 32-46,48-62 63-77,79-93 94-108,110-124". For an SS7 ISUP link where there are signaling channels on the first channel of each E1 interface, this is "2-31 33-62 64-93 95-124". For a single 4BRI interface it should be "1-2 4-5 7-8 10-11"
  • SS7 linksets: Define SS7 linkset numbers. These are local identifiers of the available linksets, separated by spaces. Start numbering them from 1. E.g. "1 2"
  • SS7 linkset local point codes: Define local point codes for the linksets you defined in the SS7 linksets parameter above, separated by spaces. E.g "1000 2000"
  • SS7 linkset adjacent point codes: Define the point codes of the adjacent equipment (usually STP's). Separate different point codes for the same linkset with comma's and separate linksets with spaces. E.g "1001,1002 2001,2002"
  • SS7 linkset default destination point codes: Define the default destination point code to which ISUP messages are supposed to be sent. Separated each linkset by spaces. E.g. "1003 2003"
  • SS7 linkset signaling channels: Define the signaling channels towards the adjacent point codes for each of the linksets. Separate the channels for linksets by spaces, separate the signaling channels towards the adjacent pointcodes by dashes and separate the signaling channels by comma's. For the above example where the first STP signaling channels are 1 and 32 and the second STP signaling channels are 63 and 94, this would be "1,32-63,94"
  • SS7 linkset network indicators: Define the network indicator for each linkset. Possible values are national, national_spare, international, international_spare. Separate them by spaces per linkset. E.g. "national national"
  • SS7 linkset called nature of address indicator: Set the called nature of address. Possible values are unknown, subscriber, national, international, dynamic. Separate them by spaces per linkset. E.g. "dynamic dynamic"
  • SS7 linkset calling nature of address indicator: Set the calling nature of address. Possible values are unknown, subscriber, national, international, dynamic. Separate them by spaces per linkset. E.g. "dynamic dynamic"
  • SS7 linkset international prefix: Define the prefix added for calls with the international indication. Separate for each linkset with spaces. E.g. "00 00"
  • SS7 linkset national prefix: Define the prefix added for calls with the national indication. Separate for each linkset with spaces. E.g. "0 0"
  • SS7 linkset subscriber prefix: Define the prefix added for calls with the subscriber indication. Separate for each linkset with spaces. E.g. "0 0"
  • SS7 linkset unkown prefix: Define the prefix added for calls with the unknown indication. Separate for each linkset with spaces. E.g. "0 0"

Post installation actions

The SOP should be rebooted after installing this module.

Common and example BRI and PRI channel configuration settings

Here are some common configuration settings that will help you configuring the channels of the BRI and PRI interfaces

Single PRI E1 card

  • Span types: ccs,hdb3
  • Span clocking: 1
  • Span signaling: dchan=16
  • Span media: 1-15,17-31

Single 2 PRI E1 card (or 2 1PRI E1 cards)

  • Span types: ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3
  • Span clocking: 1 2
  • Span signaling: dchan=16 dchan=47
  • Span media: 1-15,17-31 32-46,48-62

Single 4 PRI E1 card

  • Span types: ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3 ccs,hdb3
