IPM is a pluri-media editor active in the French speaking market of Belgium, with nine sites in Belgium and one in Paris. They edit two daily newspapers (La Libre Belgique and La Dernière Heure), together with a number of specials and magazines and the associated web sites. They also have their own local radio station Ciel, their media sales house and printing plant.
Challenge
Move 750 users to a new infrastructure for a converged IT and telecom network across different locations and generate the highest value while remaining within a pragmatic TCO for the investment. The complete ICT infrastructure had to be redesigned and existing contracts with suppliers were reviewed or cancelled. But above all, the move needed to be successful in a short contract time of 3 months, without any downtime at all.
The Solution: Unified User Experience
The result is a totally converged telco/ICT solution, commonly known as "Unified Communications" for 750 users working, partly on the road. The user disposes of an effective and integrated way to manage
and reply to his contacts, in any situation (fixed, mobile, busy or available at his desk, telework...). All existing contact channels, such as phone, voicemail, fax, e-mail or chat are integrated in one single
unified system.
The operational part (Service Operation Point or SOP) is installed at every large location. Each SOP can support up to 1500 users and several SOPs can be combined to support larger user groups. The central management system handles the configuration and back-up of the system.
The benefits
The payback has been achieved in less than one year. The employees are gaining time and increase their personal efficiency and job satisfaction. They can easily select how they want to be reachable and
"do-not-disturb" is not an idle status but a guarantee for more efficiency.
The total solution is completely vendor independent which allows the free use of any terminal, phone, telephony or IT hardware. It has a multi-site distributed architecture management via a single web based platform. The administrator has the flexibility and redundancy of dedicated stand-alone devices, combined with the simplicity of a single centrally installed appliance. Configuration and updates are very simple and nearly automatic. This gives him a Unified Administrator Experience. The service is monitored and ready for implementation of
a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP).

Consolidated started her activities of roof covering, renovation and maintenance of flat roofs in the Netherlands in 1962. They implemented many environmental and product innovations, which reinforced their market leader position. As a result of a number of takeovers they now operate from 17 sites, close to the local customers in the Netherlands.
Challenge
Existing PBX systems of all kinds were integrated in one IP software solution, compatible with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. The local character of all operations, including the number plan was maintained to keep the trust of all customers and to give them conti nuity. On the other hand, central configuration and management was a must, to achieve Unified Communication for all users. A very important item was the "one number" concept for fixed and mobile devices, and the CLIP information doesnt show mobile numbers anymore.
The Solution: Mobile and fixed UC
A completely converged telecom/ICT solution for fixed and mobile voice and data communication will be realized in different steps by the ICT team of Consolidated. The operators of the different sites have a detailed overview on their consoles of the status of all fixed and mobile workers, which they can contact in the most appropriate way. Operators may take incoming calls from other sites with full knowledge of the customer data. The customer gets faster answers and he is convinced that he is still in contact with his local contact.

Namur, in the French speaking part of Belgium covers an area of 3,664 km2. It contains 38 municipalities and 500.000 inhabitants. The public administration is spread over more than 20 buildings.
Challenge
Renew the heterogeneous installed base of obsolete PBX systems and install 670 new telephones (Snom), 65 fax machines and 880 new numbers. The contract has been awarded to ESCAUX, after an official public tender procedure. Price but also quality, project management and maintenance were the main criteria.
The UC Solution: Full integration of telephone and data
The solution has been built around five ESCAUX appliances: two telephone servers, two gateways and one fax server. The last one is tailor made and T38 compliant, not commonly available in IP systems. Thanks to the flexible API, all available telephone data has been merged seamlessly wit the IT data and applications, including the intranet network of this public service. net.Desktop gives a real time overview of call flows and history, presence and status of all users in a unified way on al snom telephones.

The solution
The multiple site system for over 100 users has been installed by their own network provider. Only a half-day training and some telephone support was enough to realize this solution in a Citrix environment, with Snom SIP telephones. The operator console is very user friendly and all incoming calls are answered within three ring tones. All sites and call flows are configured from one central point and every site has the same Unified User experience, independent from the sites he is working from or the device he is using.
