The Escaux Unified Communication Solution (UCS) is a platform that natively implements unified communication in all parts of the solution. In order to guarantee a high availability, it is essential that the appliances are connected to an uninterruptible power supply or UPS. This will protect the appliance against any temporary power outage of the main power grid, as well as fluctuations and power spikes

Compatible UPS devices

Escaux appliances can be connected to most UPS', as long as they are physically and electrically compatible with the power supply or power supplies of the appliance. However, this will not protect the appliance from data loss and possibly a loss of service when the batteries of the UPS run out!

Recommended UPS devices

While most UPS' are compatible, not all will be able to safely turn off the appliance when the UPS' batteries have almost run out. Only when a safe shutdown is performed, through a recommended UPS device, can data loss and thus loss of service be avoided. This can be achieved by establishing a network connection between the UPS and the appliance On regular intervals, the appliance will check if the UPS is running on batteries and if the batteries are almost running out. If the answer is yes, he will initiate a safe shutdown. When the UPS' power on the main power grid comes back, he will restart the appliance.
