After the training, the participants will be able to give training to users on how to use their phones for most common tasks including transfers and conferences. Also, they will be able to explain the usage the net.Desktop client for unified communications to search for contacts, make calls and to use the system of presence as a more flexible approach to the "do not disturb" function.

Target audience

The trainer training for the Escaux Unified Communication Solution (UCS) is targeted at the trainers who will train the end users. These users will be using the phones and the unified communication features of the solution. The participants are required to have experience in training end users, preferably in the use of telephony equipment.

Number of Attendees

Maximum 8 people can attend the training

Contents of the training

The training for trainers strictly follows the structure of the training for end users because this is the training that the participants will have to give. The training starts with a short overview of IP telephony, then quickly moves on to the practical usage of the phones and applications.

IP telephony introduction

A short introduction shows the differences between traditional telephony and IP based telephony and the impact this has on the features that the Escaux UCS solution offers.

Phone usage

The main part of the training focuses on how to use the phones for day-to-day tasks like making and answering calls. After the initial exercises, the training continues with time-saving tasks like fast transfers of calls and management of voicemails. During this section, the trainers will have the opportunity to ask questions about how to explain certain aspects of the subject.

  • Day-to-day tasks
    • making calls and answering them
    • use of speed dials
    • second line calls
  • Advanced functionality
    • transferring calls
    • conference calls
    • listening to voicemail messages and managing them

Presence

Most telephony systems offer a do-not-disturb functionality which is useful, but quite limited. The Escaux UCS solution extends this with a system of realistic scenarios that correspond to actual use cases. For example, you can tell the solution that you are in a meeting and it will redirect all calls to your voicemail. Or, you can set your status to "on the road" and all the calls to your desk phone will be forwarded to your cell phone. This section of the training introduces the concept of presence in all its aspects and shows the participants how to increase their efficiency by a good usage of the presence system. During this section, the trainers will have the opportunity to ask questions about how to explain certain aspects of the subject.

  • Informational presence
    • seeing if somebody is on the phone or at his PC
  • Intentional status
    • setting your status to meeting, on the road, in the office, ...
    • viewing a colleague's status
    • behind the scenes: profiles and callflows

Unified communication

One way to use presence, telephony as well as other forms of communication that the Escaux UCS solution offers, is the net.Desktop client for unified communication. This section of the training gives an overview of this software client and its capabilities. During this section, the trainers will have the opportunity to ask questions about how to explain certain aspects of the subject.

  • Unified directory
    • searching for contacts
    • viewing users' status
  • Presence
    • setting status and forwards
  • Unified communication
    • other communication features of the net.Desktop client (chat, video, fax, ...)
