vSopHost Template Release Notes

This document describes the changes that exist between the different versions of the configuration of the Escaux vSopHost

Upgrade procedure

It is not required to install all the intermediate versions. The targeted version can be installed directly

The following steps needs to be executed in order to upgrade from one version to another one:

1. Check the version currently used on the vSOP Host
2. Review the release notes , the Special manual upgrade actions of all the versions between your current version and the targeted version
3. Check the dependencies of the targeted version
4. If your vSOP Host is part of a cluster, upgrade first the Master Sopkey
    Navigate to: SMP > Master Sopkey > Advanced > Manage template
   Select Manage template via released files. Select Apply Public Template Upgrade. Select the required template, click Upgrade
5. For each vSOP Host, repeat the following operations:
   1. Upgrade the vSOP Host template
       Navigate to: SMP > vSOP Host Sopkey > Advanced > Manage template
      Select Manage template via released files. Select Apply Public Template Upgrade. Select the required template and click Upgrade
   2. Select all the modules
       Navigate to: SMP > vSOP Host Sopkey > Advanced > Module Configuration
      Click Schedule and then Install Modules. Check that no error occurred. If the module Network is installed all the vsop needs to be restarted.
   3. Push the New configuration
       Navigate to: SMP > vSOP Host Sopkey > Apply Changes > Apply SOP Changes
      Check that no error occurred.
   4. Execute all the Special manual upgrade actions indicated for each version between the current version and the targeted version

For recent versions, you should use the playbook to upgrade.

vSopHost

This document describes the changes that exist between the different versions the Escaux vSopHost template

IMPORTANT NOTE

If you use a DL360 G9, a Baseline 3.4 or higher or the Kernel module 1.3 or higher, make sure to use the template version 4 or higher. Not respecting this requirement can cause serious stability issue.

Installation procedure

When you first install a vSopHost follow this procedure:

• Load the template
• Configure the template
• Install modules
• Apply changes
• Reboot the server

Changing the network configuration

Since version 4.2.0, the network is not restarted automatically when the network module is (re)installed. This is done as a mitigation for an issue where all vSOP's lose their connectivity when upgrading the host.

If you want to change the network configuration you have 2 options:

• Reboot the server.
• Install the network module, and then manually restart networking and all vSOP's.

Upgrade procedure

It is not required to install all the intermediate versions. The targeted version can be installed directly

      Click Schedule and then Install Modules. Check that no error occurred. If the module Network is installed all the vsop needs to be restarted.
   3. Push the New configuration
       Navigate to: SMP > vSOP Host Sopkey > Apply Changes > Apply SOP Changes
      Check that no error occurred.
   4. Execute all the Special manual upgrade actions indicated for each version between the current version and the targeted version

If you plan to upgrade from any version below 2.X, you must consider that all will be ERASED and all vSOP WILL NOT BE CONNECTED ANYMORE

• note all network settings ( server Management and network modules )
• note all the static route you can find on the SOP ( route -n) be sure they are present in the network module and you have copy of them.
• check status of all vsop (vsop list)
• export bulk admin vSOP resources
• Do a "create configuration snapshot"
• Apply template v2
• import vSOP to resources
• create on "internal directory" an extension with these mandatory features
  • extension : sopxxxxxxxx
    • ex : sop00009799
  • profile : sop.config
• click on profile parameter of this extension and fill in all network settings previously noted
• install modules
• apply changes
• go on sop through SSH
• restart all VSOPXXXX
  • vsop stop-force VSOP000X
  • vsop start-interactive VSOP000X
